CNN in Maplewood Village Tues. 11/15

A big shout out to Cranes who announced this on maplewoodonline earlier this evening:

CNN is doing a piece on the importance of shopping locally and they have chosen Maplewood Village as their backdrop!

They will be in the Village tomorrow from approximately 11 am to 1 pm. They will be taking exterior shots as well as interiors and would like to interview local merchants about how you compete with big box stores/restaurant chains, how you educate the public on the importance of shopping local and asking you some specifics about your individual businesses. We don’t know specifically where they will be stopping so we are hoping that most of you can be in your businesses and will give them a few minutes of your time.

They have chosen to come at lunch time in the hopes of seeing the Village in action. For those of you who aren’t proprietors of a shop or restaurant, we hope to see you out and about tomorrow at lunch. Come out and buy a coffee, grab a bite and buy a holiday gift.

This is a great opportunity for the Village. Please do what you can make this a positive PR piece that helps spread the word about what a special place Maplewood Village is to shop, dine and live.

Halloween is ON in Maplewood!

From Mayor Vic De Luca: The Township is NOT cancelling trick or treating but we urge parents to use common sense and be careful. Do not walk on streets or sidewalks with yellow caution tape or barricades. Only go to houses with their outside lights on. Bring flashlights. Join up with other parents to walk together so you can better control the anxious trick or treaters. Even though they will object, accompany your middle schoolers. Start early and try to end by 7pm. For those giving out candy, clear your sidewalks and steps. Keep as many outdoor lights on as possible. The Maplewood Village Halloween parade is still on and is an alternative to door to door trick or treating. Let’s have fun but stay smart and safe.
